Other rescue mission services possible because of Drumstick Dash signups

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – We are now within a month of the Drumstick Dash, and there is still time for people to sign up for the race.

The money from the signups goes back to helping Rescue Mission Ministries perform daily services to hundreds of people.

Officials said the Rescue Mission would not be able to help people all year long without help from people, and the money goes towards providing multiple meals to people at the ministry each day.

It also provides food for the MANNA Food Pantry. This weekly service gives grocery-boxed meals to families in need.

“This is one of the best things that you can do as far as if you want to give back to the community,” Michael Campbell, a volunteer with MANNA for the past five years, said. “I just want to give back to other people and I know that if people have a heart for other people, this is a good way to do it.”

Each box contains about 60 pounds of food, including non-perishable food items, fresh produce and fresh meat.
