ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Ahead of Veteran’s Day on Monday, downtown Roanoke once again served as the route for the annual Virginia Veteran’s Parade.
The march included more than 60 groups and organizations and began on Jefferson Street.
Participants made their way onto Campbell Avenue before finishing the procession on Williamson Road.
Those featured in the parade came from all over the state and included veterans’ organizations, non-profits, high school bands, and corporate participants.

Everyone included brought something different to the table but event organizers said everyone comes together for the same reason.
“It’s just great to see this many people come together in Roanoke and really celebrate service to our country,” said secretary and treasurer of the Veteran’s Parade Committee Todd Dodson. “That’s what’s great about it. Every single participant, that’s what they’re here for.”
The event has taken place every year but one since it began in 2009 and brings the community together to celebrate, honor, and support local veterans.
