VIRGINIA ( DC News Now ) — As Virginia lawmakers continue discussions on budget amendments, both the house and senate have released their proposed amendments and they’re very different from amendments proposed by Governor Glenn Youngkin in December.
“The good news is Virginia has a surplus unlike neighboring states,” said Dr. David Ramadan, a former Virginia delegate and professor at George Mason University Schar School of Policy and Government.
Ramadan said Virginia has a balance budget constitutional requirement and the governor and the general assembly have to adjust the budget; the two-year biennial budget so they can deal with the surplus just like they would do if the state had a shortage which they don’t this year…
