WESTLAKE CORNER, Va. (WFXR) — Smith Mountain Lake is getting some big-time national fishing exposure this week. Major League Fishing (MLF), one of the top professional bass fishing circuits in the world, is holding its Heavy Hitters All-Star Tournament at the lake through Thursday.
Thirty of the top professional bass anglers in the world are competing. The event, hosted by Visit Franklin County and Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, is drawing fishing fans to the region, while millions more will view the tournament as it is streamed live online.
“It generates a lot of foot traffic for local businesses, restaurants, motels, gas stations, marinas, tackle shops,” said Indian Point Marina owner Dewayne Lamb. “Good business for all.”…
