Roanoke County house fire displaces two people and pets

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County Fire is investigating a house fire in southern Roanoke County that has displaced two people and their pets on May 28.

Roanoke County FD said crews responded to a home at the 6000 block of Poage Valley Road around 1:52 p.m. after reports of a fire. At the scene, crews, including Back Creek Station 11, found smoke showing from the rear side of the home.

Firefighters battled the blaze and were able to bring it under control in around 45 minutes, fire officials said. Two people, two dogs, and a pet bird all escaped the home safely without injury, “thanks to the presence of working smoke alarms.”

The two people and the animals will be displaced but will be staying with friends in the area…
