Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office has unveiled a fresh effort aimed at strengthening community relationships and improving public understanding of local law enforcement. The Summer Transparency Tour, which kicks off June 10 and runs through September 30, 2025, will bring Sheriff’s Office representatives into neighborhoods across Roanoke each Tuesday evening.
This new citywide outreach initiative is designed to create open, face-to-face engagement between residents and law enforcement. The program will provide an opportunity for community members to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn more about the functions and programs within the Sheriff’s Office. Events will be held in easily accessible public spaces such as libraries, community centers, and meetings of neighborhood watch groups.
Topics will vary by week, but sessions are expected to include information on the responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office, updates on new laws impacting residents, services available through the agency, and guidance on navigating the correctional system…
