Richmond, Virginia – Another wave of showers and thunderstorms is sweeping across the Mid-Atlantic Thursday as a cold front pushes through, bringing locally heavy rain and possible flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, rainfall totals reached over 1 inch across parts of Virginia, Maryland, and central Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Up to another 2 inches could fall by tonight, particularly in the Blue Ridge region and northern Virginia counties. The heaviest rain is expected through late afternoon, tapering off overnight as the front clears the coast.
