10 Teens Fall Through a Utility Grate While Touring College

Three of the students were taken to the local hospital for further examination

A college campus tour was abruptly stopped when a group of high school students fell through a utility grate.

Washington County Public School students were touring the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Va., on Thursday, June 26, when things went awry, according to a Virginia Tech incident report. The group was looking at one of the campus academic buildings, Pamplin Hall, while standing on a utility grate.

However, the grate gave way beneath their feet, and 10 students fell six feet down.

“The students were able to get themselves out. Emergency services arrived on scene and evaluated the students for injuries,” the incident report states…
