Volunteers from the SML Good Neighbors weekend food bag program packing team and Food For Kids packed 150 food bags last week for children attending the Franklin County Summer Enrichment Camp held at Windy Gap Elementary School. Each bag included food staples for the weekend, plus from bread donated by Lake Christian Ministries and fruit purchased by donors.
During the summer, SML Good Neighbors uses the food packing space at Food for Kids Weekend Pack-A-Sack program for students attending SML Good Neighbors summer camps.
During the school year, Food for Kids Weekend Pack-A-Sack program provides a bag of meals every weekend for food insecure children in Goodview, Huddleston, Moneta, and Montvale elementary schools, and Staunton River Middle School.
