A new 90-bed skilled nursing facility is under construction on Scruggs Road (640 Scruggs Road) in Wirtz. Named Smith Mountain Lake Health and Rehab Center, the Saber Healthcare Group facility is expected to be more than 45,000 square feet and is slated to open in late 2026 or spring 2027.
Regional Director of Business Development with Saber Healthcare Group Jermell White said Smith Mountain Lake Health and Rehab will offer similar services as Rocky Mount Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Mount, also a Saber Healthcare Group facility.
