Racoon tests positive for rabies in Botetourt County

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts are advising residents of a rabid raccoon in western Botetourt County.

According to the release, the raccoon was spotted near the Old Sessler Mill Road and Blackberry Lane.

Residents in the area are advised to watch their pets and to avoid wildlife. Officials said this is the second confirmed case of rabies since late June.
