FLOOD ALERT: Flash Flood Emergency issued for parts of Montgomery County

WASHINGTON (7News) — Another day with warm and muggy conditions and chances for storms during the late afternoon through late evening in the DC area.

Storms today are likely to arrive after 5 p.m., with the strongest storms capable of producing gusty winds, small hail and localized flash flooding.

Storms should end before 11 p.m. across the area with quiet conditions expected through the overnight into early Sunday. The risk for severe weather is low around DC and more elevated for areas to the southwest.

The Weather Prediction Center has also placed the DC area in a level 2 out of 4 risk for flash flooding. Widespread flooding is unlikely, but low-lying spots under heavy downpours may see some high water and road closures.

Temperatures before the rain arrives should reach the middle 80s with heat index values in the middle 90s. Overnight lows will dip into the 70s…
