‘Everybody came together’: Neighbors help save woman from Roanoke house fire

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Teamwork was on full display in Northwest Roanoke Friday evening, after a kitchen fire sparked in the 1900 block of Melrose Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

A family living down the street was the first to notice something was wrong.

“We happened to be standing outside, having a conversation, and happened to see a bunch of black smoke coming out of Ms. Norma’s house,” said a neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous…
