Roanoke Deputy receives award from VA youth organization

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office announced that Deputy Joe Mullins received the School Resources Officer of the Year award from the Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO) organization.

The Sheriff’s Office also wanted to extend its congratulations to William Byrd Middle School, which was awarded Middle School Club of the Year.

According to its website, YOVASO is a “youth leadership organization focused on engaging, educating, and empowering youth to influence a safe driving culture through leadership development and innovative outreach programs.”…
