ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – On Monday, August 4, Food Lion Feeds partnered with Feeding Southwest Virginia and Kellanova to host its Summer Without Hunger campaign. Meals and backpacks filled with snacks were packed and distributed to local families.
One in five children in the region face hunger, according to Feeding Southwest Virginia. The event hoped to support one of the food bank’s summer mobile feeding stops, providing more than 100 children with nourishing meals and backpacks filled with snacks to help fight hunger.
Beyond this event, Food Lion Feeds says it plans to amplify its support throughout the summer by matching community donations to Feeding Southwest Virginia, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.
Kellanova was also on-site donating snacks for the backpacks and will contribute $10,000 to strengthen Feeding Southwest Virginia’s ongoing hunger relief efforts, according to officials…
