MONETA, Va. (WSET) — The skies may have been cloudy, but spirits were high at the second annual “Wine, Balloons and Tunes” festival at Smith Mountain Lake.
More than 1,000 people braved the rain over the weekend to attend the event at Wind Vineyards in Moneta. Guests enjoyed tethered balloon rides and chartered flights over the lake, but one of the biggest draws came at sunset, when a glowing balloon display lit up the sky.
The event also gave a major boost to the vineyard’s wine sales. Organizers say they’re honored by the strong community support — with many attendees helping to offset weather-related losses simply by showing up and stocking up on bottles of the vineyard’s award-winning wines…
