Vinton Town Manager reacts to the first hotel in town limits

VINTON, Va. (WFXR) – This week, the Town of Vinton’s first-ever hotel will take shape, and construction is expected to continue for more than a year. It will be at the intersection of Virginia Avenue, South Pollard Street, and Cedar Avenue.

“It’s adjacent to our downtown. So it’s not only upsizing and better utilizing existing property, but it’s a gateway into our downtown,” Richard Peters, the Town Manager of Vinton, said, “So the idea behind getting a hotel in town is that we have a number of amenities here, wedding facilities, we’re a gateway to the parkway, Smith Mountain Lake. So we have a lot of visitation to the town, but no actual place for them to stay.”

Construction will begin with the closure of First Street between Cedar and Virginia Avenue. They will then completely demolish the Vinton Dry Cleaning building, which the construction company bought. The town worked with the previous owners to move their business elsewhere.
