Angels of Assisi rescues 57 guinea pigs, working to find homes

ROANOKE Va. (WFXR)- Angels of Assisi is working to find homes for an interesting bunch of animals, dozens of guinea pigs.

The shelter’s director of adoptions, Ethan Claridge, said they were contacted by Botetourt Animal Control last week, concerning a resident who needed to surrender many animals, 57 guinea pigs and nine birds. Claridge said the shelter is going through a ten-pound bag of pellets per day.

“The guinea pigs were lucky because we have not moved our cats over from our other building yet, so, they were able to take that space,” said Claridge…
