Investigators continue the search for answers, 16 years after the murders of VT students

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- It has now been sixteen years since the murders of Virginia Tech students Heidi Childs, 18, and David Metzler, 18.

Their bodies were discovered by a man walking his dog on August 27, 2009 in the Caldwell Fields Recreational Area of the Jefferson National Forest in Montgomery County (near the Craig County line). The remote location is situated off Route 621. Investigators determined Childs and Metzler were shot to death the night before, between 8:25 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

According to the Virginia State Police, some of Childs’ things were missing, but Metzler’s guitar was still in his vehicle, a 1992 Toyota Camry, navy in color…
