BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- The former executive director of the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce entered a plea of no contest to two misdemeanor counts of embezzlement and one felony count of embezzlement.
Khari Ryder, 51, of Roanoke County, was indicted earlier this year. The investigation began in October 2023, when sheriff’s deputies were given information about the alleged misuse of chamber funds.
According to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Chad Simmons, Ryder received a 12 month suspended sentence on each of the two misdemeanor charges. As for the felony offense, the “Court took the finding of guilt under advisement.” Ryder was placed of two years of probation and was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution, in monthly installments…
