Pinpoint Weather: Cooler temperatures continue into Labor Day

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Sunday will see more clouds over the region; although, there will be some sunshine peeking through during the afternoon. Temperatures will be on the cooler side in the low-to-mid 70s with the upper 70s towards Southside.

High pressure will slide in just to our north to allow for easterly flow off the Atlantic into the Appalachians. This will lead to more cloud cover over the mountains. There will also be a chance for scattered showers and storms to develop in the afternoon, mainly along and west of the Blue Ridge.

Rain chances drop for Labor Day itself on Monday with sun and clouds alongside comfortable temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s.

The next best chance of rain areawide will arrive later in the week towards Wednesday and Thursday with a cold front, although there is uncertainty on the timing as of now. Otherwise, temperatures remain below average in the 70s with mornings in the 50s for the week.

Tracking the Tropics: Atropical wave will be moving off the African coast by Sunday where there is currently a low chance for development next week as it moves westwards.

Otherwise, the tropics will stay quiet to close out the month of August…
