RPD investigating false report of shooting outside a business

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke City Police are investigating after a Monday evening 911 call reporting shots fired outside a business in the 4700 block of Valley View Blvd turned out to be made up.

“Upon arrival, it became very obvious very quickly that we didn’t actually have a shooting,” said Roanoke Police Department Public Information Officer Hannah Glasgow. “But officers have a due diligence to check the area and check with other businesses to make sure that that incident didn’t occur.”

Police responded to the shopping strip near Valley View mall that is home to Target, Staples, Best Buy, and several other businesses around 6:30 p.m. Monday…
