Animal Advocacy: Giving a Voice to the Voiceless

The Animal Advocacy club at Hidden Valley High School is currently trying to show active support to improve the lives of animals by advocating for humane treatment and showing support to animal shelters. This club exists to help protect animals who are suffering while preventing further harm. Animal Advocacy provides animals with a voice to talk out against abuse and neglect, and takes direct action to help animals by donating food items to shelters and volunteering with different agencies.

Animal Advocacy plans to expand their volunteering efforts through various events in the community. The club sponsor, Dr. Neale (English), states, “This year I am really hoping that we can get a large group of people together that are in the club to walk the Drumstick Dash with out pets.” This is one of the many ways the club plans to spread awareness throughout the animal community.

The largest event put on by the Animal Advocacy club last year was a “Santa Paws” food drive. Throughout this event, various club members and Hidden Valley students brought in cat and dog food to distribute to nearby animal shelters. The club was still just beginning last year, so in the years to come they hope to spread more awareness and gain more membership…
