ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A cold front is passing through the region bringing with it the chance for lingering showers this morning. As the front pushes through, rain will likely end by mid-day with the cloud deck clearing from west to east throughout the day as sunshine returns in place.
Behind the front, cooler and drier air moves in with northwesterly winds breezy at times. Sunday afternoon highs will be much cooler in the upper 60s to low 70s over the mountains to the low-to-mid 70s east of the Blue Ridge.
As high pressure settles in, this will lead to a stretch of dry weather with mostly sunny skies for the week.
Temperatures will remain cool and fall-like for the week with afternoons in the 70s and mornings in the 40s to 50s. A slight warm up will occur at the end of the week before a dry cold front slides in from the north to keep temperatures cooler into next weekend.
