Blacksburg, VA Weather: Morning Rain Ends, Sunny but Chilly Nights Ahead

Blacksburg, Va. – Clouds and showers are expected to lift this afternoon across Virginia, making way for clearing skies and drier conditions to start the new week. Drivers and early risers, however, should prepare for an unusual September chill as nighttime temperatures dip well into the 40s in mountain valleys.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a cold front pushing east will usher in high pressure, keeping the region dry and sunny through at least Tuesday. Daytime highs will remain comfortable in the mid-60s to mid-70s, but clear skies overnight will allow for rapid cooling, creating early morning lows in the 40s, with some higher ridges holding in the lower 50s.

The cooler air will be most noticeable in the New River Valley, Roanoke Valley, and along the Blue Ridge, where residents may want to keep jackets handy for early morning commutes or outdoor activities. Gardeners should also take note, as the crisp air may linger well past sunrise…
