Franklin County school leaders looking into new gun-detecting software for school security

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — School leaders in Franklin County are considering adding another layer of security for two of their schools that would help detect if a gun is brought onto school grounds.

The Franklin County School Board held its regular meeting on Monday night. The leaders discussed looking into purchasing that software from Zero Eyes. School board Chairwoman Dawn McCray told ABC13’s Hayden Robertson that security for staff and students is a top priority of the division.

“You know safety is always top of mind for us,” McCray said. “We’re always looking for additional layers of protection for students and staff.”…
