Nursing program at Virginia Western Community College ranks third in state

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia Western Community College is celebrating this week, after being recognized as the third-best school for nursing in the commonwealth by Registered Nursing.

According to the Association of Colleges of Nursing, a nationwide nursing shortage is expected, especially as the Baby Boomer generation ages out of the workforce and the need for care increases. Amid this shortage, however, Virginia Western Community College is hoping to be a part of the solution, as it just welcomed one of the largest cohorts of students it’s seen since the pandemic.
