ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Mill Mountain Star will not be illuminated this evening, Wednesday, September 10, due to damage identified during an inspection earlier today, according to the City of Roanoke.
Roanoke’s Facilities & Custodial Management Division, in coordination with a lighting contractor, completed an assessment. The city reports that it was discovered that several bulbs had become detached and could swing freely.
According to officials, this poses a significant electrical safety hazard, as the swinging bulbs could cause live electrical connections to come into contact with the metal frame of the Star. Due to this, the Star will not be operational this evening…
