North Carolina–Virginia Border Flood Watch: Central & Eastern VA See Up to 3 Inches of Rain Possible Through Tonight

Richmond, VA – A Flood Watch is in effect today across large portions of Virginia and parts of northern North Carolina, with forecasters warning of possible flash flooding from heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service, eastern and southeastern Virginia — including Hampton Roads, the Tidewater region, Hopewell, and Petersburg — will be under a Flood Watch from noon Saturday through this evening. Excessive runoff could flood rivers, creeks, streams, and urban areas with poor drainage.

Meanwhile, a second Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service in Blacksburg covers south-central Virginia and counties along the North Carolina border until noon Saturday. That area includes Lynchburg, Danville, Martinsville, and nearby North Carolina counties such as Rockingham, Stokes, and Caswell.
