Salem Animal Hospital celebrated 80 years with new state-of-the-art facility

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – The Salem Animal Hospital will be celebrating 80 years this Saturday as it’s the oldest veterinary practice in the Roanoke Valley.

The celebration will take place on October 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3153 West Main Street in Salem. There will be free Chick-fil-A, along with a pumpkin patch, giveaways, a tour of the new facility, and indoor trick-or-treating from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The practice was started in 1945 by Dr. Edward “Tommy” Thompson to serve pets and their families, according to the release. Dr. Allen R Bryant bought the practice in 1973, and in 2008, his son and wife, Dr. Rich Bryant and Danielle Bryant, continued the family legacy…
