This elusive cryptid took West Virginia and Appalachia by storm after it was first sighted in 1966. Many believe his name comes from the idea of Batman and the Killer Moth from DC Comics.
According to accounts, on November 15, 1966, Roger and Linda Scarberry, along with Steve and Mary Mallette, were driving together on State Route 62 near the abandoned National Guard Armory building and power plant. When they saw a menacing figure standing six to seven feet tall. In the headlights, giant eyes shone bright red.
