Pinpoint Weather: Colder temperatures tonight, rain returns later

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Low temperatures tonight will get cold behind yesterday’s cold front as they drop into the 20s and 30s. Winds will still be a bit breezy to make it feel colder.

High pressure will be settling in overhead which will promote dry conditions with sunny skies for Monday. High temperatures will be cooler than previous days in the 50s for most with 40s back towards the mountains.

While it will not be as windy as Sunday, it will still be breezy tomorrow with gusts up to 30 mph at times. With continued dry air in place, fire concerns will remain elevated for the day. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged. Winds calm down into the night.

A warm front will lift to the north Tuesday, increasing cloud cover and sliding in rain from the west in the afternoon and evening. Some rain may linger into the night and towards early Wednesday morning before clearing out.

Daily spotty showers are possible west of the Blue Ridge over the back half of the week before a better areawide chance returns Friday night into Saturday with a passing cold front.

Highs warm up by mid-week in the 60s to low 70s before dropping behind the front for Sunday into the 50s.
