Inflation hits holiday meals; grocery bundles save little

ROANOKE, VA. (WFXR) – Grocery prices are up about three percent year over year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Meaning holiday meals will cost more for many families.

“This is a moment where people are not only buying their regular meals, but they’re also buying a much bigger grocery bundle than what they’re used to buying,” said Jadrian Wooten, collegiate associate professor of economics at Virginia Tech.

Wooten says it’s really popular for places like Aldi, for Walmart, for Target, to put together bundles to try to essentially highlight some of the cheaper places that they can save people money…
