THAXTON, Va. (WFXR) – The Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire this weekend that left residents displaced and took the lives of several pets.
According to the department’s Facebook, on Saturday, November 22, Bedford Communications alerted of a house fire on Rolling Meadows Drive in Thaxton at 12:40 p.m.
Fire officials say Engines 13 and 9 arrived together on scene to find a single-wide mobile home with heavy fire showing, and marked it as a working fire. Together, the two teams worked on the fire from the interior and exterior.
Reportedly, Rescue 13 then arrived, established command, and assisted Engine 13’s crew inside. Rescue 1 arrived, split its crew with Medic 14-1, and began helping with fire attack. Tanker 13 assisted with the water supply…
