Roanoke’s BLET Division 301 Celebrates 140 Years of Service to Local Locomotive Engineers

BLET Division 301 in Roanoke, Virginia, marked its 140th anniversary in November. The Division was chartered on November 17, 1885. Members celebrated the anniversary at a recent meeting. They wore t-shirts designed by Local Chairman Patrick Jennings. The Division donated a commemorative t-shirt to the National Division for display in the BLET history museum.

Division 301 was originally based in Lovely Mount, Virginia. It represented locomotive engineers of the Norfolk & Western Railroad. The Division moved to Roanoke in 1903. In its early years, members met four to five times per month, usually on Sunday afternoons. Today, the Division represents about 250 active and retired Norfolk Southern locomotive engineers…
