ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Multiple chances for a wintry mix of precipitation will occur over the next several days as a few disturbances pass by keeping temperatures cold.
A cold front will pass through the region tomorrow bringing back the chance for rain. With moisture arriving tonight, temperatures will be cold enough to support a wintry mix of flurries, freezing rain, and rain. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 2 AM until 12 PM for the potential of light icing. The best chance for ice impacts looks to be near and north US-460 and along/west of the Blue Ridge Crest with less than 0.10” of ice possible.
Precipitation will be a wintry mix during the overnight hours into the morning before it transitions to mostly rain showers by the afternoon as temperatures warm up. Snow and sleet accumulations will be mostly confined to the Greenbrier Valley.
Temperatures for the day will be chilly, warming up only to the 40s for the day with wind chills a few degrees lower under mostly cloudy.
High pressure moves in for Monday to bring a dry start to the new work week before the next system arrives Monday night into Tuesday. This system will bring another chance for freezing rain for some with widespread rain elsewhere through the afternoon. Details on this next system will get clearer as we get closer.
High pressure will return to bring dry weather Wednesday into Thursday before more rain chances at the end of the week. Temperatures will stay cold and slightly below average, mainly in the 40s for highs and 20s/30s for lows.
