Man fatally shot by police in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia State Police is investigating the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting of a wanted suspect in Roanoke.

According to VSP, task force officers with the U.S. Marshals Service attempted a traffic stop on the wanted suspect at 3:45 p.m., Monday, December 1, on Hershberger Road at Peters Creek Road. The suspect, identified as Markieth O. Bryson, Jr., 28, of Roanoke, allegedly fled the scene, hitting several police vehicles in the process.

Bryson was then located at a residence in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Officers attempted to negotiate with Bryson for several hours, according to the press release. Then, the VSP tactical team made entry into the residence. Officers said Bryson produced a weapon and was shot by officers…
