ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Karis Care Services is hosting its 22nd annual “Karis Christmas for Seniors” program in the Roanoke area.
Officials say nearly 1,500 seniors are enrolled in this year’s program, which brings holiday cheer and companionship to the oldest community members, who are often forgotten during a holiday primarily focused on children.
According to Kari, these seniors will largely be alone during the holidays, and many won’t receive a gift without the program. Karis creates tags with each senior’s name and wishes and places them on public trees throughout the area.
