Santa rappels down hospital roof to spread Christmas cheer

ROANOKE, VA. (WFXR) – This is the second year Christmas came a little early for patients at Carilion Children’s Hospital, thanks to local first responders and one very adventurous Santa.

“This is his first time seeing Santa,” said Kentasia Morrison, mom of a Carilion Children’s Hospital patient.

Morrison and her son Darius Jr have been at Carilion for ten months, where hallways are usually filled with the sound of monitors, but this day was different.“Santa will be rappelling from the roof of the hospital. Totally unexpected and really awesome for our patients and families. To get away from the life of being in the hospital and experience some festive holiday joy,” said Sarah Kress, a certified child life specialist.
