Botetourt County deputy uses lasso to rescue deer trapped in a pond

BOTETOURT CO., Va. (WDBJ) – Lassoing a deer trapped in a pond is an unusual call that put a Botetourt County Sheriff’s deputy in the social media spotlight.

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit is one of the most active departments in the agency. The team of four dual-trained officers is responsible for all 541 square miles of Botetourt County.
