ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WDBJ) – Several businesses teamed up to help families stay warm this winter, wrapping up a month-long coat drive Saturday with a free giveaway at Southern Sparkle Boutique.
Instead of selling winter coats, the boutique opened its doors to distribute donated items to anyone in the community who needed them. For the past month, Southern Sparkle Boutique, Kid’s Castoffs, and the Redwood Community Farmers Market collected coats, hats, and gloves for children and adults alike.
Brittany Steele, owner of Southern Sparkle Boutique, said the effort shows the power of small businesses working together .“If there ever is a need in the community, just know that there are small businesses out there that will collaborate together and kind of help with that need. Individually, we might not be able to do much, but together as a whole, we can do a lot.” Steele said…
