Changes coming to Southeast Roanoke as residents push for revitalization

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A longtime community center in Southeast Roanoke is being torn down and replaced with a new resource center, marking a significant change for a neighborhood that residents say has struggled with abandoned buildings and empty lots.

The Presbyterian Community Center at the intersection of Jamison Avenue and 13th Street is being demolished by the nonprofit organization that operates it. The new facility will include a resource center, parking and green space, with completion expected by March.
