Carilion data shows flu cases rising in December, subsiding now

ROANOKE, VA. (WFXR) – Carilion’s testing data shows cases began rising in December, with the highest numbers occurring during the Christmas holidays, when people were gathering indoors.

Since then, doctors say daily flu cases are gradually declining. Suggesting the region may have already passed its peak.

“There is the occasional flu season where there is a double peak. So, even though I would love to say it’s on the way down, I can’t honestly say that at this point,” said Dr. Thomas Kerkering, Chief of Infectious Diseases at Carilion Clinic…
