BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – A Blacksburg High School student recently placed as one of the top 300 science students in the country, his award-winning research fueled by a longtime hobby-turned-career passion.
At an early age, Xavier Gitre was fascinated by birds, it all starting with one simple interaction.
“I looked out in the yard and I saw this crow. And to me, to my five-year-old brain, he looked hungry,” joked Gitre. “So I got a cracker and I threw a cracker to the crow. The crow disappeared with a cracker, it came back, and it had a little shiny piece of aluminum with it, and it left it on the porch.”…
