Blacksburg, Virginia – Strong northwest winds are expected to impact the Blacksburg area and much of southwest Virginia on Sunday, with gusts ranging from 30 to 45 mph and isolated gusts up to 55 mph along higher elevations, according to the National Weather Service office in Blacksburg.

Forecasters say the strongest winds are expected between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, as a strong disturbance moves across the lower Mid-Atlantic.
