SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — On Saturday evening, the Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo crowned a ‘King of Cowboys,’ in 11-year-old Gabriel Reck before the competition ever started.
The recognition was part of a VIP weekend for Reck and his family, courtesy of ‘Dreaming of Three,’ a program similar to the Make-a-Wish Foundation that specializes in creating rodeo experiences for children with serious medical conditions.
“To see these families and know that we can give them a few minutes of relaxation, give them a few minutes away from the reality of what they’re facing,” said Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo spokesman Kevin DeBusk. “It means the world.”…
