(WFXR) The WFXR Pinpoint Weather team is continuing to track a huge winter storm bearing down on the commonwealth. The coming wintry mess and falling temperatures are prompting several organizations to open as warming shelters throughout the weekend.
Belmont Presbyterian Church in Southeast Roanoke, which served as a warming shelter last winter, has decided to open its doors again, from 8 a.m. tomorrow through Monday. Leaders there said anyone is welcome.
“We’re just going to party it up for a few days, and we’ll have worship service Sunday at 11,” Todd Atkins, a pastor at Belmont Presbyterian, said. “We’ll have food, we’ll have hopefully people here to talk to people, people will be sleeping and hanging out, and eating good food.”
