ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A Roanoke jury convicted 21-year-old Nashawn De’vion Smith of murder and weapons charges at the close of a two-day trial on Thursday, January 29, 2026, The Roanoke City Commonwealth’s Attorney Office advised on Monday.
Smith was convicted of:
- First degree murder
- Use of a firearm in the commission of murder
Smith is presently serving a prison sentence in the Greensville Correctional Center, in Greensville, for an unrelated shooting that occurred on October 31, 2021, according to the Roanoke City Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.
Roanoke City Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Harrison Ave. NW to a report of person with multiple gunshot wounds at 11:28 p.m. on September 4, 2021, according to evidence presented during trial.
When police arrived, they found Hakeem Logan in the road and suffering from catastrophic gunshots wounds. Logan was pronounced deceased at 11:41 p.m., according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office…
