SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Operation “DISS-rupt” is coming to a road near you, sponsored by Virginia State Police (VSP)!
VSP says this is a traffic enforcement and educational safety initiative put in place because of the warming temperatures and “Virginians deciding to finally venture out.” State Police in the Salem, Appomattox, Chesapeake and Richmond divisions will conduct Operation DISS-rupt on all 299 miles of Interstate 64 in Virginia from Feb. 5-6.
This traffic enforcement focuses on:
- Distracted driving
- Impaired driving
- Speed compliance
- Seat belt safety
VSP says data shows 46 people have died in a traffic crash on a Va. roadway so far this year (as of Feb. 3). Furthermore, 13 pedestrians have been hit and killed in Va. so far this year…
