ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Angels of Assisi gave an update on the conditions of 18 dogs rescued from a property in Roanoke on Tuesday.
Roanoke Police and Angels of Assisi teamed up February 3 to rescue the dogs after a delivery driver reported animal neglect, according to the police.

Fifteen small dogs were living indoors. Angels of Assisi says they have active skin allergies and appear to have given birth multiple times. Three large dogs were living outside, where Angels of Assisi Executive Director Lisa O’Neill says their kennels were floored with mud, their water was frozen over, there was no food in sight, and tarps over their cages were weighed down with snow.
“We’ve had some rough weather lately, so we don’t know if he was living outside during that time. We hope not, but clearly that was his living conditions,” O’Neill said, holding one of the rescued dogs Wednesday.
